Dreaming of NYC

All of these photos were taken by me (with my iPhone) on my trip to New York City over Labor Day weekend. A while ago, but I have been dreaming of the city ever since. It was a short trip with my boyfriend and his family. I actually ended up getting very sick in the beginning of the trip - due to motion sickness from the airplane and not eating enough on my travel day up there.

Even still, I fell in love with this city! We stayed at the Lotte hotel, it was beautiful. I wish I had taken more photos of it. I actually barely took any photos of our trip - I was too busy enjoying every minute! As I said earlier, it was a short trip - only a couple of days long. But on the day we left, the sun was shining and the weather was 75 and breezy. As you can tell from the photos, it was rainy and gloomy on our couple days to walk around.

We didn't do much sightseeing, mostly shopping (haha). We had lunch at Fred's (Barney's) it was fabulous! There were a few shops my boyfriend wanted to check out, and all of my usual favorites were already there, of course. :) Anyways, I have been wanting to go back ever since. I truly did not expect to love New York the way I did, and I am desperately wanting to go back for a few more days and take in this amazing city all over again!

To end to anyone reading this - has anyone ever had Kith Treats? That is the ice cream looking photo above. It is actual ice cream, your cereal mix of choice, and milk all infused together to make (the best) ice cream ever. I get fruity pebbles, captain crunch, and oreo. If anyone has ever had any, I'd love to know what it was :)

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner ideas I'm looking to try this Fall

Caramel Apple Cinnamon Waffles - How delicious do these sound for the Fall and Winter seasons? I absolutely love cinnamon, and will definitely have to try out this recipe for a weekend morning breakfast. I don't enjoy caramel (I know) so I would personally exclude that.

Broccoli Grape Harvest Salad - Although this is an article about dinner recipes, I would make this as a meal prep for lunch. It looks simple and delicious and the addition of a light white sauce would be fantastic.

Roasted Butternut Squash and Bacon Soup - I have to admit, this looks delicious. I love the sweet, warm flavor of butternut squash; and who doesn't love bacon? Haha. I am not particularly someone who makes soup often, nor have I ever wanted to (it feels risky)! But that is the idea of starting this blog. A personal outlet to talk about things I love, on my mind, and changes I want to make for myself. I think this warm soup is perfect for the cooler temps to come, and will make a satisfying dinner.

I'm very much loving this blogging thing so far. It is so nice to have somewhere to release what is on my mind. I can see this little site becoming a happy place of mine. :) Also, all of these recipes I discovered via my morning routine of looking on theeverygirl.com. The website is pretty insightful, in several different ways, for working women!

If you've stopped by this post, thank you! I hope I can share some thoughts, loves, ideas, and conversation.

Fall Wishlist

Before I begin this blog post (my very first one) I am going to introduce myself a little bit. I call sunny south Florida my home, but I am currently living north for college. I started this blog simply as an outlet away from school and work that I can talk about and share things I love. Some of these loves include fashion, good books, traveling, coffee, and food. As someone who loves reading blogs, I understand that the blogging world, in several forms, is oversaturated. I didn't start this to become famous or make money. I did this, as I stated earlier, as an outlet for my own self.

However, if I can start a conversation, or interact with someone on something we both love, I think that would be great of course. :) Below, I've rounded up only a few items I have been eyeing lately. I tend to hop around J. Crew Factory and Nordstrom for some clothing inspiration - at a decent price point. If I'm looking to splurge, Ralph Lauren, Ted Baker, and Draper James are my go-to's. When I'm looking to save, H&M, Forever21, and boohoo are the sites I search about and pick apart.

Long-sleeve mock-neck pullover - Last year, J. Crew Factory had an almost identical sweater that they released that I had long debated but never purchased. After realizing my college location is quite cold from December-February, I wish I would have purchased it. Luckily, this year a version is back. It is a little different do to the design detailing on the overall sweater, but I actually like it even more than last years. It is $55.50 and available in every size.

Cotton-wool Teddie sweater - Again, last year, J. Crew Factory came out with a similar Teddie sweater. There were several patters but the one I purchased (and still own - the quality is fabulous) is  thick cognac and white stripes. Currently, this sweater is available in every size along with many color options. It is $42.50.

Petite gingham button-down - This shirt is also available in regular sizes, but I am relatively short (5'2") so I find petite sizes for more structured clothing items fits me better. I have actually never owned anything gingham - the pattern makes me nervous. I am fairly modest with the clothes I actually wear, adoring the styles I love from afar. It is something I am looking forward to change. Another reason for starting my blog - to help me grow as a person! Anyways, this shirt is classic and under $40 at $36.50.

Rockaway wash skinny jean - Lastly, classic skinny jeans. I am actually in need of a good pair of denim. I hear good things about J. Crew denim and am anxious to try them. There are several denim options available - all in many sizes, styles, and colors. These particular jeans are priced fantastically at $39.95.

I look forward to sharing my loves with anyone who wants to join me! If you've stopped by (and hopefully enjoy reading along) thank you, and feel free to keep checking for new posts. xx
